Incy Wincy Kids was founded in 2008 by Louise Yarham and Liz Seaton

Both Louise Yarham and Liz Seaton have worked for a number of years in schools working with children to develop their skills and confidence in a range of skills. These include; fine motor and gross motor skills. These in turn can assist and enhance the learning in the classroom. Louise & Liz have come to realise the vital importance of developing these skills as a critical foundation for confidence and competence and an enjoyable start to school. Research shows that initial competencies provide the best platform for long term educational success.

Once children begin school there are many presumed expectations placed upon them. These include; being able to sit still on the floor (often cross legged) and at a chair and table for periods of time, listen to the teacher whilst other background noise is present, perform two and three step instructions, concentrate on the task required, and carry out self care skills such as tying shoelaces, and managing their lunchbox containers. They are also expected to be competent in a range of fine motor, postural and visual perceptual skills. Being able to correctly hold and manipulate the pencil, cut accurately, form letters well, draw a repertoire of things, identify shapes, focus visually and discriminate detail, enables students to be able to work with ease on more complex tasks expected in the class room.

Louise Yarham (Director)

Louise graduated from Sydney University with a health science degree in Occupational Therapy and then went on to pursue a Masters of Education at Macquarie University. Since graduating she has worked in many fields, but is now consulting and working at a co-educational Private School , a Public Primary  School and is a Consultant in a Preschool. She offers Occupational Therapy services to the students both individually and in groups. She also provides education and consultation to teachers and parents. She is able to assist the students to gain better access to the curriculum and thus improve their learning and potential. Louise has been working in this field for over 10 years. She works with students from Preschool to Year 12. Over the years Louise has become passionate about early intervention with the younger students and has found that intervention at a younger age can be the most beneficial and indeed more fun for the students. She feels the skills offered at Incy Wincy Kids can be beneficial for all children.

Liz Seaton (Director)

Liz Seaton has a degree in health sciences in Occupational Therapy. She has worked in a variety of settings both in Sydney and overseas including community health, acute hospital, private practice, and currently runs a school based practice on Sydney's North Shore. Liz's current practice involves assessment and therapy with individual children as well as group therapy, consultation and education of staff and parents. Her work in schools has identified the need for developing fine motor skills, such as pencil grip, cutting, drawing, and correct letter formation to enable ease of performing these tasks as required in a classroom. Her work with children in the early years of school has demonstrated the value of early intervention for the development of skills for continued academic competence and confidence.
